Peas are extraordinary vegetables. They’re the perfect example of how beautiful nature can be. Open one pea pod (or shell) and you will see many small, round, green peas inside… each just like the others. Open another pod and you’ll get the same result. Almost all peas look exactly alike, and you’ll find them side by side.

When two people look alike, behave alike, or do the same things, we sometimes say they’re like two peas in a pod. They might wear the same kinds of clothing, have the same silly laugh, or listen to the same bands. Friends also might be called two peas in a pod if they do everything together. It’s hard to be apart from someone when you and that person are as close as two peas in a pod.

Kellie and Sara are talking about becoming roomies. Will they get along like two peas in a pod? Read more in today’s English lesson about friendship.

Kellie:  It sounds to me like we’re going to get along. What do you think?

Sara_R:  Totally. Two peas in a pod. We both wake up early. We’re both a little messy. We both like to cook.

Kellie:  We could have dinner parties.

Sara_R:  That would be fun. Have you found an apartment yet?

Kellie:  I have. My friend Marni from school says she knows about this place that is phenomenal. Have you rented your own apartment before?

Sara_R:  Uh-uh. Will there be a deposit?

Kellie:  I believe it’s first and last month’s rent. Landlords ask for that in case you skip town without telling them first.

Sara_R:  If we each pay half, I can do it. What about an application?

Kellie:  We both have to fill one out just to prove that we don’t have bad credit.

Sara_R:  That’s not going to be a problem. What kind of utilities will we have to pay?

Kellie:  Internet, electricity, and water. Everything else is paid for by the landlord.

Sara_R:  I’m so excited. My first apartment. I mean, our first apartment. We’re going to be great roomies.

Kellie:  Two peas in a pod. Come on. Let’s go check it out.

Kellie and Sara have a lot in common. They like to get up early, they don’t worry about cleaning up, and they both enjoy cooking. It sounds like they’re going to get along very well.

The new roomies talk about what they will have to do before renting an apartment, like complete an application and give the landlord a deposit. Even though it’s Sara’s first apartment, she seems to know what she’s doing. And she’s certainly very excited!

Will Kellie and Sara be successful as roommates? Are you like two peas in a pod with anyone in your life?

Ola33,you understood exactly what I thought to say..Yes of course, I agree,if the different opinions, behaviours and other things between the couple are so big,it will be impossible ,sometimes, to solve all the problems under the sheets…. Have a good day..Ciao..

Michele, differences sometimes’re exciting in small dosage. For sure, it spices our life up but if the spouses cannot agree on the main, fundamental things of the marriage, it comes to arguments without a compromise—so called irreconcilable differences. In this this case the difference is just a torture.

I instead believe that a life between two alike people ,e.g. wife and husband, might be too bored and not lively..am I wrong ?

I haven’t found another pea wearing a yellow shirt yet:). And don’t know if i need that too much. It would be interesting to find your “mirrow image” though who’d be ” me too, me too, me too, me too”. I’m still very curious to see that. They say there’s one on a planet that looks exactly like you, or think exactly like you. Just came to mind a great french comedy, La Chevre, Knock on Wood where the main character who got to be unlucky in life is trying to rescure the same unlucky fate pretty girl. And how the fate brings them together at the end of the movie. Nice!

I think they would be great roomies, they seem to be agreeing on a lot and I’m sure they will get along well together.

I thought I’m a unique pea, but in college I’ve met my best friend, and we both share a lot when it comes to personality, so we are like two peas in a pod.

When I saw the title, I immediately recalled “a bean splitted to two halves” It’s something said here about people who are alike, but mostly concerning appearances only..

I think that  Kellie and Sara  will be wonderful roomies ,they are both a little messy, hopefully, jejejeje . I remember a 1968 film, The Old Couple, starring Jack Lemmon and Walter  Matthau. Oscar, (Walter Matthau) was so messy  and the counterpart was Felix (Jack Lemmon) with his obsession with cleanliness .  I hope that Kellie and Sara  won`t “sink the boat  ” so to speak, fighting over a guy and repeat the story  that  Shoba have just shared with us ,that the two peas in a pod ended up fighting like territorial cats. jejejeje

I think it could be a good start for them to be successful roommates when they are two peas in a pod. When they are alike eachother, things are alot easier to be done since it comes to easier agreement.

I have a good old friend who is two peas in a pod, and she is not just alike me, but the best friend. We share the silly laugh that makes our happiness double as well as makes our sadness half.

If they have a lot in common, maybe they will be successful as roommates, But I couldn’t be sure! Because people are complicated and usually unpredictable!

I don’t like two peas in a pod with someone in my life, I like be unique as I am! َAs most people are unique in their own life!

But it could be interesting and fun seeing some people be like two peas in a pad.

My cousin sister and I used to be two peas in a pod. We had the same likes and dislikes, dressed in the same way, and always hung out together.

Then one day we found out that we fancied the same guy. Things went downhill from there. We started to fight like cats and dogs and became different peas in different pods.

The worst part was the guy we were fighting for was already seeing someone and didn’t even glance at us!
